Sylvain Bazinet

Sylvain Bazinet was born in Montreal, Canada, and has lived and worked in New York City for most of his life. He received his BFA in Art and Design from Parsons School of Design and continued his education in Computer-Aided Design at Pratt Institute. "New York City is my great teacher, it's a place where by good fortune, I crossed paths with great artists, photographers, and art dealers who generously introduced me to critical thinking and to the wonders that come from asking questions to others and, more important to oneself.” Phillis Braff, a critic from the Sunday New York Times, praised Bazinet’s work, saying, “Mr. Bazinet pieces make a particularly strong impact, a regimented cluster of panel paintings, each with its own independent image or pattern. Occasionally there are recognizable references to details of the natural world. The assembly generates a smart dialogue between its units, contrasts randomness and structure, and questions the line separating reality and crafted object.”
